Description
Pole beans are climbing beans that grow on tall vines and keep producing tender pods over a long season. Because they grow upwards, they give a high yield from a small area, which makes them well suited to kitchen gardens and terrace gardens.
Pole beans grow best in warm weather, full sun and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Sow the seeds directly in the soil about 1 inch deep and provide a pole, trellis or net for the vines to climb. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, and pick the pods regularly while they are young and tender to encourage more fruiting.
